LaGuardia Community College, New York

November, 2019

A devised site-specific performance co-created with Stefanie Sertich and Lindsay Timmington, The Loop was a meditation on the past, present and future of LaGuardia Community College and its community.

We gave the 25 students full creative autonomy in the development of the piece: under our collaborative guidance they were the driving force in researching, writing and designing The Loop. Their work led to the creation of five site-specific vignettes, each representing a stage in the development of LaGuardia, from birth to past to present to future to Utopia.

Each vignette was shaped into a highly distinctive visual and performative form, staged at various sites throughout the college. A procession linked these five fragments into a single performance, creating a unified sequence that connected the history of LaGuardia with its current students’ lives, hopes and dreams.
